Griffins show promise despite loss

Sept. 1 - The Lindenwood-Belleville University Lady Lynx spoiled the Fontbonne University women's volleyball 2010 season opener, defeating the Griffins 17-25, 16-25 and 20-25. Fontbonne is now 0-1 this season.

Despite the loss, the Griffins did show some promising new athletes and a very exciting rally in the second set. Fontbonne freshman Abbie Bergtholdt led the Griffins with 13 kills and 4 blocks. Returning to the court and having a team high, 18 assists, was senior Kaitlyn Stephan. Griffin sophomore Olivia Thurmond recorded 16 digs in her first match of the season.

The Griffins travel across the street to Washington University Saturday for a 3:00 pm match against the Bears.
