Head Men's Volleyball Coach - Matt Bright
The 2011 season will be the fifth for Coach Matt Bright at Fontbonne University.
Upon graduating from Oakville Senior High, Matt continued his athletic career at Fontbonne College, competing on the basketball court for Coach Lee McKinney. In addition to competing on the hardwood, he also was a 4 year member of the golf team and competed for the Griffins in Cross Country and Tennis for one season each.
While still a student at Fontbonne, Matt began his coaching career by volunteering at Bishop DuBourg High School. From there, he went onto coaching stints at Oakville and Lindbergh High Schools before accepting the Men's Volleyball job at his alma-mater.
Coach Bright has a B.A. in Middle School Education from Fontbonne and received a Master of Education in Athletics/Activities Administration from William Woods University in May 2007. He is currently teaching at Hancock Place Middle School in St. Louis County.
Coach Bright is assisted by Coach Mike Haston. This will be Coach Haston's fouth year with the Griffins. A St. Louis native, Mike attended Parkway North High School where he was a part of back to back state championship volleyball teams in 2001 and 2002. Coach Haston furthered his volleyball career playing 4 years for The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. After graduating with a degree in Psychology, Mike returned to St. Louis and is working for the Special School District of St. Louis County in the Hancock Place School District. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in special education.
