Fontbonne began offering men's volleyball in 2006 as a club sport. After two years, Fontbonne upgraded men's volleyball to a NCAA sanctioned sport in 2008. To further enhance the program, Fontbonne joined the Midwest III Volleyball Conference in 2009. The Griffins now compete against other NCAA Div. III schools such as Carthage College, Milkwaukee School of Engineering and Mount St. Joseph College.
In 2010, Fontbonne's men's volleyball program finished ranked 26th in the country for Division III schools.
The team travels the Midwest Region to compete as well as Florida. They played in the Dunham Student Activity Center which holds more than 1,500 spectators.
