Six men's soccer players earn SLIAC honors
The Fontbonne University men’s soccer team had six players receive St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) post-season honors.
Senior midfielder Mike Utley and junior defender Chad McBride earned First-Team All-Conference honors. Utley had eight goals and three assists for 19 points for Fontbonne. He was secod on the team in goals, assists and points.
Senior forward Kevin Vonarx, who led Fontbonne in points, goals and assists, earned Second Team All-Conference honors. Vonarx tallied nine goals and four assists for 22 points. Sophomore defender Daniel Lourie and freshman goalie Zach Will earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors. Will, who started every conference game for the Griffins also earned SLIAC Newcomer of the Year. Junior forward Steve Blincoe earned SLIAC All-Tournament Team honors.
Fontbonne’s season ended in the SLIAC Tournament semi-final losing to eventual tournament champion Webster University 3-1. The Griffins finished 7-9-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the SLIAC. Fontbonne took 3rd place in the SLIAC.
