The women’s softball program at Fontbonne was established in 1994 and needed just a short time to begin its success.
The Griffins won their first of seven St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Championships in 1995. In just 17 years of competition in the SLIAC, Fontbonne has won the second most games in the conference. The Griffins have won five SLIAC Tournament Championships and advanced to the NCAA Tournament five times. Fontbonne has won more SLIAC Tournament games than any other SLIAC schools. Fontbonne holds the SLIAC record for most SLIAC Tournament Championships (5) and most league/tournament wins in a season (20).
Fontbonne travels the Midwest Region and country to play a top-notch schedule. The Griffins historically spend their Spring Break in Florida competing against some of the best teams in the country. Fontbonne has had two All-Americans in its program history, Annie Dillinger and Ashley Weaver.
The softball program plays its home games at ABC Park in St. Ann, the same facility that hosted an exhibition game between the United States Olympic Team and St. Louis All-Stars.
