Baseball team cruises past Greenville in SLIAC Tournament
The Fontbonne University baseball team banged out 24 hits last night as they defeated #2 seed Greenville College 20-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. Fontbonne, the #3 seed, will play #1 seed Webster University today at 2 pm in the winner bracket of the double elimination tournament.
Last night, Fontbonne senior Josh Kraemer and sophomore Jared Richardson recorded 6 RBI’s apiece. Richardson was 4-6 for the plate with two doubles, one run scored and six driven in. Kraemer was 3-5 from the plate with four runs scored and six driven in. Fontbonne junior pitcher Sean Wiley picked up the win in relief for the Griffins. Wiley came into the game after an hour ran delay and went six-plus innings allowing just two runs on seven hits.
Fontbonne, the defending SLIAC Tournament champions, will play on Saturday if they win their 2 pm game or will play at 8 pm Friday night if they lose the 2 pm game. All games are being played at Glik Park in Highland, Illinois.
