Women's golf opens season at home

The Fontbonne Women's Golf Team opened up the 2011 season hosting the MacMurray College Highlanders yesterday at Forest Park Golf Course. The Griffins won the dual meet shooting a team score 404. MacMurray was not able to post a team score.

Leading the way for Fontbonne was junior Madison Fischer who fired a one round score of 96. Right behind her was senior Melissa Roberts who finished the day with a round of 98. Fellow senior Jennan Bolk tallied a 102 while senior Mary Alice Pierce posted a 108 in her collegiate golf debut.

First year head coach Steve Schafer was pleased with his team's performance, "The girls performed well for their first meet of the year. They have put the time in leading up to the meet but we still have a ways to go around the greens and with our short game. I am excited to see how this team progresses as we move through the season."

The Lady Griffins will return to action this Monday September 26th as they travel to Jacksonville, Illinois to compete in the MacMurray Invite.
