Kim Hartman (Women's Volleyball)
Kim Hartman Mosley is a 1987 graduate of Fontbonne University with a major in Early Childhood Education. Kim was a varsity volleyball player who garnered numerous awards for her excellent work on the court. A two time All-American (1984-85 & 1985-86), she was one of the most prolific volleyball players in the history of the sport at the University.
Kim not only won many individual honors, she also led the Griffins to the National Finals of the National Little College Athletic Association (NLCAA) Tournament in 1985. Fontbonne lost to Scholastica College in the final game. This may be as close as any Fontbonne team has ever come to being a national champion.
DIANE PINKLEY REYNOLDS (Women's Softball)
In 1994, Fontbonne University Athletic Department instituted the first women’s softball team. Diane Pinkley Reynolds has the honor of pitching the first game of that first season. She pitched in 24 games that year, starting in 22 of them. She won 13 of those games, with one save and an ERA of 1.23. As a sophomore, Diane pitched in 28 complete games of the 32 played, winning 22, and carrying an ERA of .85. That ERA was outstanding enough to find her fifth in the nation in NCAA Division III.
Her junior year Diane won 12 games, 1 save, and had an ERA of 1.67, winning her last eight starts. With additional pitchers coming on board her senior year, Diane won eight games with an ERA of 1.64, played first base while batting .418, and was the emergency catcher when injuries to team mates required it. This all lead to a four year record of 55 wins, 70 complete games, 4 saves, and a cumulative ERA of 1.26.
Diane was a four time All-Conference first team selection, and eleven times was chosen conference Player of the Week. She has also pitched in two women’s Class A ASA National Championships (1995 & 1997), and pitched against the USA Olympic team in 1996. She did not allow a base runner during the latter game. Without a doubt, Diane must be considered one of the premier players in the history of the SLIAC conference.
MARGRET (MOLLY) PARDO HOFFMAN (Women's Soccer)
Molly Pardo Hoffman is a 1996 graduate of Fontbonne University. Transferring to Fontbonne her junior year, Molly has attained the status of All-American in soccer at Florissant Valley Community College. Molly was a welcome addition to the Fontbonne women’s soccer team, and scored 42 goals with 29 assists in her two years as a Griffin.
As a Griffin, Molly was a two time First Team All Conference selection. In 1995, Molly tallied 16 goals and 12 assists for 44 points. At that time, this total was a SLIAC record. In her senior year, Molly scored 26 goals and had 17 assists for 69 points. All three of these are Fontbonne records. Molly led the 1996 Griffin squad to a 15-3-3 record, best in school history, and to a post-season SLIAC championship.
MARK WESTBROOK (Men's Soccer)
Mark Westbrook was one of the best soccer players to play at Fontbonne University. In 1991 and 1992, the Griffins were unbeaten in 22 conference games, earning the number one ranking in the region and fifth nationally among NCAA Division III soccer programs. Mark Westbrook was a major reason for the success of the Fontbonne program in the early 1990’s. Mark was twice selected to the First Team All-Conference (1990 & 1992) and took Second Team All-Conference honors in 1991.
As good as Mark was on the soccer field, he excelled as well in the classroom. Mark was an outstanding student, earning a BS degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. In addition to playing soccer, Mark interned at Anheuser-Busch in their Accounting Department.
